Leaving Windhoek

After spending almost a month in Windhoek, our impetus to leave came in the form of Kate and Gareth. They were heading north to explore the Damaraland and the Kaokaveld. Since this is something that we also really wanted to do and exploring the remote areas of the Kaokaveld was recommended with more than one vehicle, this was a perfect opportunity to get back on the road.

So, after some frantic running around with last minute preparations to get going, we departed Windhoek for the first time late in the afternoon of August 26.
